We encourage ‘slow’ and appreciative reading. The Literary Salon sets out to build a vibrant and inclusive community bringing together participants – sometimes referred to affectionately as ‘Salonistas’ (regardless of gender) – and trained facilitators. Everyone involved shares a passion for literature and a desire to enjoy and celebrate the works we read.

Many participants will be reading the authors for the first time. You don’t need specialised knowledge or a background in literature to enjoy a Salon study, all that’s required is a willingness to read carefully, listen thoughtfully and be open to new and sometimes challenging ideas. All Salonistas are encouraged to bring their own insights, questions and observations to discussion of books and art.
