James Joyce Reading Group in Piccadilly

256px-djuna_barnes_-_joyceIf you’re still working your way up to the Salon’s heavy-duty 20-week study of James Joyce’s Ulysses—or if you’re a Ulysses study alumnus—you might find just the right touch of Joyce with the James Joyce Reading Group.

The Joyce Reading Group is very much what its name says: a group that meets weekly to read Joyce’s works together out loud. Meetings are at 10:45 a.m. on Wednesday mornings in a quiet spot in Piccadilly, near the tube station.

Salon participant and Reading Group member Annie Frankel tells us the group welcomes new members looking for a relaxed, friendly and fun opportunity to immerse themselves in the sounds of the Literary Salon’s favorite author. The group so far has finished reading Ulysses aloud and is currently reading Dubliners. In the new year, they have their sights on Stephen Hero and A Portrait of the Artist as a Young Man—but, they may just double back and begin Ulysses again.
